Auto logon

Use ALF Management to create an Automated Logon File (ALF) to automate your logon to SAP. You can use an ALF to schedule an unattended run or when you want to use the same logon information each time you run one of your script files. When you save SAP credentials to CENTRAL, you are no longer required to provide a user name and password for a system each time that you log on.

To create or modify an ALF

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click Capture. In the SAP SERVER logon dialog box, select the server that you want to use and enter the appropriate credentials. This is the easiest and error-free way to create an ALF. You can also select the Use Logon Group check box and type the Logon Group and Message Server Host settings to save a logon group in the ALF.

    -or-

    • Click Open to display an existing ALF file to make changes to the file. Click Open from CENTRAL to show an existing ALF on the server.

    Ensure that the captured credentials are correct. Click Test to perform a test of your log on information. A message is displayed to confirm that your log on was successful. Click OK.

  2. Click Save to store the ALF when you are finished. Click Save to CENTRAL to save your ALF to the CENTRAL server.

    NOTE: ALF files are encrypted, which makes it difficult to open and read your SAP password and other information. However, if the ALF file is accessed, it could be used to log on to SAP by any other person who has authorization to use the Winshuttle program. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you protect your ALF file, either by using Windows system encryption to prevent others from using it under their user name, or by storing the file on removable media that is password protected.

Auto logon details

SAP System Name, Applications Server Host, and System Number: Capture or type the SAP system information for the ALF.

Message Server Host: Capture or type the message server host information.

Client, Username, and Password: Capture or type the credentials for the auto logon details.

Language: Capture or type the default language for the auto logon.

Use SSO1: Select the SSO1 option if you want to log on by using your Windows identity.

Use Logon Group: Select the check box to enable the Logon Group and Message Server Host and type this information. Leave this check box blank to enable the application server host information to be used.

Logon Group, Partner, and Enterprise Portal Address: Capture or type this information.

Auto Logon File: The location of the auto logon file that is currently saved.

Using the CENTRAL logon

To use your SAP credentials on CENTRAL, each time the SAP logon dialog box appears, click the CENTRAL tab that appears on the list of SAP system-clients for which you have saved credentials.
