Configuring Email Approvals

You can set up an email account to receive emails from workflow participants. This allows email-based approval or rejection of workflow assignments outside of SharePoint.

To configure email approvals:

  1. Create a dedicated email account on your email server. For example, SVemail.
  2. Run the SVConfigurator to edit the sharevis.config file. (See Editing Configuration Settings for more information.)
  3. In the sharevis.config file, set the following keys (about lines 48 – 51):



EMailApprovalAddress Full email address to send all Workflow assignment-related emails.
EMailApprovalUser The name of the email account.


The password for the account. This can either be clear text or encrypted.
EMailApprovalMailServer The name of the email server.
